What does it mean to be a Christian? Why do we preach the good news that Jesus died to save sinners? We hope the next few paragraphs will help explain the necessity for people to trust in Jesus.
God created us to enjoy a sweet relationship with Him, to know Him intimately and to worship Him. However, starting with the first man, Adam, we have all sinned against God. As a result, we’re now completely separated from God, not having the relationship He intended, with the penalty of physical and spiritual death hanging over every single one of us. That’s why life all too often feels as if something is missing, because there is!
We’ve rebelled against Him, disobeyed Him, dishonoured Him. We do this through our denial of who He is, our cursing and swearing in using His name, and through our conduct in justifying unethical, immoral acts, lying, cheating, and worse acts than these.
This sin nature in us continues to be passed down from generation to generation with no way to stop it. Ever noticed we have to teach young children how to be good, and not how to be bad?
The only solution is the one God has provided. God loves us so much He sent His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for our sin. Jesus, the perfect and sinless Son of God, died a ghastly, painful death in our place, one which we so rightly deserved, so that all (anyone and everyone) who confesses and turns from their sin, and accepts what Jesus has done for them in saving them, can be restored in their relationship with God and enjoy a new life (both now and for eternity) with Him.
He desires that YOU, the one reading this, come to Him now, realising your desperate need for a Saviour, your deep longing to have all your sins forgiven and to find a new life with purpose and peace with God.
So many miss this extraordinarily wonderful message from God, ironically, because of its simplicity. They often wonder what they have to do to earn forgiveness and the acceptance of God.
There is nothing you have to do, or can even do. No one could be good enough to rectify his / her sin problem. That’s why Jesus came. He has already done all that was needed, when He died for our sin, in our place.
Why not come to Him right now just where you are. Admit to God your sin and rebellion and acknowledge that only His Son Jesus can save you and give you forgiveness of sins, a home in heaven and a new beginning. Then thank Him for doing this for you. God will help you as you begin a new life trusting in Him.
